Who Murdered Bill Johnson?

By Nicholas Contompasis

What exactly happened here? It appears that Bill Johnson's home was being foreclosed on. Have things in America gotten that bad, where a man is forced to blow up his home to prove a point? It appears so!
Any additional information about this tragic incident, please leave a comment.
Thanks

Man blows up house, kills self in Van Meter, sheriff says

By the Des Moines Register

07/16/2011
A Van Meter man blew up his house and later killed himself after a brief standoff with law enforcement Saturday afternoon, Dallas County sheriff’s officials said.
The violence began about 2 p.m. when a house at 125 Hazel St. in Van Meter exploded and spread debris throughout the area.
Neighbors ran to see if anyone was injured and found Bill Johnson, 58, outside the destroyed home.
“Guy was sitting there drinking beer, watching the house burn,” neighbor Kevin Waters told WHO-TV. “I asked if he was OK, and he said, 'Yes, doing fine.’ He says this was planned.”
Deputies held firefighters back from the scene while they talked with Johnson, who was carrying several guns. After a brief standoff, Johnson shot and killed himself in front of deputies, Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard said.
Johnson was apparently being sued in civil court in a dispute over the property and had recently missed a court date in the case, Leonard said.

Bill was my cousin. He was a good man. We worked on family genealogy together. He was always kind to me. RIP Bill. Sherry, granddaughter of Frances Johnson. www.flowergirlprincess.com (my little internet business).
