The Lesson of Haiti

“There, but for the grace of God, go I,” is how the old saying goes. As Americans look at the horrible pictures and read the news coming out of the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Haiti, they had better take heed. Yes, that could be you!
If the American people think that this couldn't happen to them, they'd better think twice. With the reckless governing by our current administration, our elected officials are heading us towards a Haitian type existence.
Haiti has no infrastructure, no money, no natural resources, no nothing! People are roaming the streets looking for food, water and relatives who may still be alive.
The simple fact is that we are just a few percentage points away from being Haiti. How’s that you’re asking? Well, if you double the interest rate we now pay for our debt, the money we spend on interest for that debt will exceed the money we collect in taxes. That’s when a country becomes insolvent and the currency then turns to play money that can only buy fantasies. There will be no money left to support our infrastructure, our police, our fire, our everything. No social security checks, no government pension checks, no welfare checks, no government employees paychecks, no unemployment checks, no running water, no electricity, no nothing. “No nothing”, I hate that term.
So, you keep watching what’s coming out of Haiti because the faces you’re watching could be yours if you allow the thugs in Washington to remain.

  1. What's up with Robertson? What an incomprehensible thing to say.

"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French--uhh, you know, Napoleon III or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French." True story. And so the Devil said, "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out—you know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other—desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etcetera. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island. They need to have---and we need to pray for them—a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I'm optimistic something good may come. But right now we're helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable"
